Chakuli Pitha ((オリヤー語:ଚକୁଳି ପିଠା)) is a flat Odia rice-based fried cake traditionally made in the state of Odisha. It is prepared using rice flour, black gram, refined edible oil (preferably ghee or mustard oil), and salt. It traces its origin during early 4th century BC when Buddha had tasted the Chakra apoopa from two merchants coming from Kalinga Kingdom to Magadha. ==Classification== *Saru Chakuli (ସରୁ ଚକୁଳି) :This is thin pancake-like Dosa. *Budha Chakuli (ବୁଢା ଚକୁଳି) :This is a thick pitha/cake made of black gram dal and rice batter mix with jaggery, cottage cheese/paneer (chhena) and grated coconut.
